GlossyBox - Feb & Complaint

Hey Dolls,

I am really late with this post but I really wanted to share my opinion of the last Glossybox as I really wasn't impressed.

I've stuck by Glossybox for 9 months, cancelling my Boudior Prive box and my Feel Unique box as I believed Glossybox gave me more. The past two months have been a bit of a disaster for me even though we've had that 'Special' Valentines Box

With the Valentines box, the only product I genuinely didn't mind was the Orly Polish but come on! I didn't pay £12.95 for 1 small nail polish. Anyway, to rub salt in my wound I saw other bloggers received Clarins products! They get Clarins and I get bloody shower gel. *Straight face*

Then I received this box.

Paul Mitchell Curl Optimiser
DuWop Venom Lipgloss
Liquid Soap
Peppermint Body Lotion (The worst thing my nostrils have ever encountered - Think foot cream peppermint)
Mineral Eyeshadow in a Pinky Gold colour
Now yeah, it's kinda ok but I was really not excited about anything in this box. Then yet again, Salt was added to the wound when I saw others received the Stick on Manicure nails but I received Liquid Soap.

This is when I put pen to paper (well emailed) Glossybox to type a small humorous complaint (please see below) Don't get me wrong, I completely understand they cater for so many different types of people and the products will vary but, If I receive another Body Wash I think I am going to scream.

Anyway, I emailed Glossybox who were lovely, and they are going to send me the nails as a 'Good will gesture' YAY!

I believe the best way to complain is to be nice, funny and non offensive. I promise you, Flattery will get you everywhere. Hope you like my compliant:

"Hey Glossybox team,

I've been an avid subscriber for 8 months now and have always loved my Glossybox but, the past few boxes I've been a little bit upset about :( I completely understand you cater for so many different women with different needs but I've hated nearly all of the products in the past two boxes.

What makes it even worse is I see bloggers who has received better boxes then me. Last month most girls got Clarins stuff (I LOVE Clarins stuff) but I got horrible Shower gel. :( Fear not though every ones different BUT, Then this month I got some horrible smelling liquid soap and loads of people got the Stick on manicure! You have no idea how jealous I was! I would have LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the stick on manicure to test. I hate acrylic nails and am always on the hunt for good stick on nails *Sigh* It's not fair Glossybox.

Glossybox, are you trying to say I smell? I use Soap & Glory Clean on me so I can assure you I don't ha-ha!

I did fill out my Beauty Profile so you could get to know me better but you sent me Paul Mitchell Curl stuff. My hairs Straight so I have no use for this at all :(

I've had an idea.... If I sent back the unused Liquid Soap and the horrible Body Lotion could I swap them for the nails? PLLEEEEAASSEEEEEEE???

Glossybox team, I am willing to give you one last go but I just don't want anymore Body wash. It's becoming offensive now haha! Deal?

Thank you,

Sadie

Ps. Happy Monday!"

Glossybox - February

Hey Beauties,

On Monday morning I received this months Glossybox and as first impressions went, I likey!

This months theme is obviously Valentines and the normal baby pink box has been replaced by a bright pink box Katie Price would be proud of. I've seen two bloggers who didn't like the colour very much but I personally love it. Yes, it is very bright and a bit out there but like I say, It's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring ;) I also thought the little heart sticker on the paper wrapping was quite cute.

Inside the box there's a folded card which says "Happy Valentines Day from Glossybox" with a bunch of red roses on it. As a newly singleton I'm not sure whether to appreciate the one and only card I will receive this year, or feel a little bit sad that Glossybox have to rub it in! Hmmm... Nice gesture I guess and at least I can say I received a card (technically I'm not lying?)  ha-ha! You open the card up obvs and inside is the usual list of what you have received.

Here's what I received

Left to Right
♥ Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner in Plum - Full Size
♥ Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer - 5ml
♥ Fab Gentle Body Wash - 2.0oz
♥ Weleda One Step Cleanser & Toner - 10ml
♥ Orly Nail Polish in Ruby - 5.3ml
 (and a sweet)

I have to admit I am a little disappointed with this box. I love the Pink presentation of the box but lets face it, We subscribe for the actual products not the box. Compared with all the other boxes I've received since starting my subscription in July this one is the most shit Meh...
I haven't got that excited feeling this month and that bothers me. I LOVE that excited feeling of new shiny products, who doesn't? But unfortunately this didn't do it for me.

I got a body wash! *Straight Face* I could have walked into Superdrug and picked out one for £1 and don't get me started on the minuscule cleanser. I love Weleda but I do not need another Cleanser :(
To top it off, I received an Eyeliner Pencil in Plum (I do not wear purple eyeliner) and another Red nail polish to add to my already huge collection. Also, to add insult to injury, I've seen other people received Clarins products. :( I would have soooo preferred these to the Nail Varnish and Cleanser! Had I received these products this review would have been a whole lot different.

In all honesty the only thing I semi like is the Murad Primer. I love a good primer so this will come in handy seeing as my Smashbox one has run out.

This is the first time since July I haven't liked at least 3 of the 5 products so I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt this month. Glossybox better pull something brilliant out the bag next month or the subscription is CANCELLED!

Did you guys like this months box?

Glossybox - November ♥

Hi Dolls,

Another month another Glossybox and i'm sad to say I am a little disappointed this month. I'm not the only one by the looks of it, and if us die hard Glossybox fans are dissapointed then it must be bad.

This months theme was "Part 1 of the Christmas Gift Guide" but to be honest I doubt I'll be buying any of these for pressies.

Lets have a look shall we?

left to right
♥ Nail Rock Designer Nail Wraps - Full Pack
♥ Dead Sea Spa Magik, Dead Sea Bath Salts - Full Size Pack
♥ Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Shampoo - 40ml sample
♥ Arbonne Hand Creme - 15ml sample
♥ Etro set of 5 perfume samples in Ambra, Etra Etro, Heliotrope, Musk and Vicolo Fiori

I think the reason I am a little disappointed is because we recieved Nail Wraps in Augusts box and last month a chunk of people already recieved Dead Sea Spa Magik products. I didn't think I would be saying this but it seems a bit, well, Samey. This suprises me because there a hundreds of thousands of products in this world us girls Adore but Glossybox have sent us the same kind of things? Also, Perfume samples? Were getting one every month now and I Love experiencing new frangrances but the ones they have sent have been foul (well in my own personal opinion)

Lets look at this months samples and I'll try and tell you why they are foul.

Top to bottom

Ambra - Smells like a spicy disinfectant. Great for Hospitals, not so great on the flesh.
Etra Etro - One word Lemons. If I wanted to smell like washing up liquid I would bathe in it.
Heliotrope - Another one word description. Almonds. I personally hate them. Personally being the opperative word.
Musk - Even though it is entitled musk it's very light and femine so this gets a so-so.
Vicolo Fiori - My favourite of the bunch. I can't place it but it's floral, sweet and romantic.I've owned something like this before so I will use this one. The rest I will give away.

Although I am disappointed I am pleased about the Bath Salts. I'm currently using Dead Spa Magik Shampoo & Conditioner and it's amazing (a review is coming soon) and this brand has always worked for me. I am defo a bath kind of girl and I can't wait to sink into the tub and try these out. They have just been given a Beauty award too so they must be good. My mum has really bad arthritis in her back in the winter so hopefully they will help eliviate some of that stiffness after a day at work. It's definately perfect for winter as its known to alleviate dry skin and flaky conditions too. I personally do not like the Nail Wraps but this is only because of the effect. I got black stripes but they sent out Leopard print ones to others and I wouldn't have minded them. The Arbonne Hand Cream is Meh. First off its a hand cream. Most woman by now have picked one up and secondly it's just not very exciting is it?

I have reminded myself that they cater for thousands of people of whom they have never met, and are in completely different age brackets and like completely different things. This however hasn't taken the edge off.

I really feel for anyone that has had this as their first box. All that built up excitement would have been for nothing. Although I am not impressed this month, This is my 5th box and the other four I have genuinely loved. I won't be cancelling just yet but they better not send something like this out next month. To make up for this they will need to pull something quite spectacular out of the bag for Christmas but I have faith and I think they will.

What did you guys think?

Ps. Nail Wraps sell really well on Ebay ;)

♥ Glossybox - October

Hey Dolls,

I have no idea where the time is going but I Love it. My Glossybox is coming quicker and quicker and there's now less time until Christmas! Woohooo..

Anyway, The Glossybox.... This Months has received mixed reviews but I personally really like it. Also, the Glossybox team decided to add an extra something in order to celebrate 6 months of Glossybox.

Lets have a look shall we?

Left to Right
♥ Dermalogica Beauty Case (the added extra)
♥ Dermalogica Multivitamin Recovery Masque - Sample
♥ Dermalogica Age Smart MultiVitamin Thermafoliant - Sample
♥ Dermalogica Age Smart Renewal Lip Complex - Sample
♥ Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner (In Moray) - Full Size
♥ 3 miniature scents from Robert Piguet Eau De Parfums – Fracas de Robert Piguet, Visa De Robert Piguet and Calypso de Robert Piguet
♥ Leighton Denny Expert Nails Colour and Care (in Bearly there) - Full Size

I am really happy with the Dermalogica Products. I'm big on skincare and products from this brand are widely raved about. A few of my friends use them and they really do work. The tubes are small (15ml) but a little goes a long way especially with the Skin Polish. I used a tiny amount with amazing results so I recon I could get about 10 uses out of this. YAY!
With Regards to the Renewal Lip Complex (1ml) I'm really happy about this. Dermalogica say its a "hydrating daily lip treatment for mature and prematurely-ageing skin"
Winter is finally settling in and I can already feel my lips getting drier so this will be a godsend.

The extra celebratory product was the Dermalogica Beauty Case, which doesn't look pretty and girly but feels really sturdy. I won't be using this for make-up etc but I do need a little wash bag for my toothbrush, facial wash etc when I go away so this will come in handy.

After the Dermalogica stuff my second favourite is the Leighton Denny Expert Nails polish. I currently own 30+ polishes but I love it so much because of the colour. I LOVE pink polish, especially baby pink so I am over the moon about it. I had a little test yesterday and it's easy to apply, it's good quality and looks lovely on. Also its a full size product which retails at £11 so that's the cost of the box basically covered. Expect to see this in a future post.

I love the Stila Smudge Stick Eyeliner. I love a bit of eyeliner but I really love the colour of this one. It's called Moray and is a pretty Olive Green colour with bits of Gold sparkle in it. I have green eyes so when I had a play around it really brought them out. This retails at £13 and I will definitely be using this with my Autumn coloured shadows.

With Regards to the Robert Piguet Perfumes I love the fact they were packaged in a little pink chiffon bag. It was a nice little extra touch and I plan to re-use this bag for a little present I'm getting my mum. The Perfumes themselves aren't to my own personal preference but out of the three I do like Fracas the best. It's the most Fresh and Floral like which is more to my tastes. Visa is a very musky smell that is a little too mature for me and I don't like musk. Calypso reminds me of holidays in the sense of a fragranced hotel room or a rum cocktail and incense sticks.
All in All I really like this months box and am excited to get to know my products more. Roll on Novembers Box!

Boudoir Prive Box - September 2011 - better than Glossybox? ♥

Hey Dolls,

I am an Avid Glossybox fan & subscriber but when I heard about a new box called Boudoir Prive Box I knew I had to get involved. After two months on the waiting list I finally received an email letting me subscribe and get Septembers box. Woohoo!

After seeing pictures of what the past boxes contained I must admit, I wasn't sure if I would keep on this subscription. Past products have included Bloom tea, Babor, Sachajuan, Macadamia  and other brands I have never heard off and although the point of the boxes are to try new & up and coming brands, Nothing in the past boxes excited me. Still, as A blogger it is my duty to try out new products and jump on the bandwagon & report my findings. Any excuse right? ha ha. Plus, I love presents and I love Glossybox so why not?

The Boudoir Prive Box
From Left to Right
♥ Cargo Boogie Nights Eye pencil - Full size
♥ Agent Provocateur L'Agent Perfume - small sample
♥ Tropic Body Smooth - Tiny Tester pot
♥ Colbert MD Eye Cream - Tiny Tester pot
♥ Macadamia Hair Repair oil - Tiny Tester pot
♥ Zoya Nail Polish - Full size
And something not in the pic is 2 sheets of blotting paper with shimmer on it.

My first thought was that it looks similar to the Glossybox. Same Pink box (well the lid flips up rather than comes off), Logo in the middle of the lid and even when opening they use the same black stringy stuff to protect the goodies and add a bit of decoration. This I think is a bit unoriginal as it is a completely different brand that may have the same concept as the Glossybox, but have completely different products in completely different price brackets. It would have been good if the Boudoir Prive box was Gold (not real gold of course but the colour of Gold) as they keep mentioning how 'Luxurious' this box is so hey, why not make the packaging a little more 'Luxurious.'

On to the Products: The reason I've put tiny tester pot instead of tester is because that's exactly what it is. I have never seen pots so small for samples. For example, the body polish pot is so small the only place I could use this would be on my hands. Once. The Eye Cream would prob last a week if used sparingly, but I think the size as tiny as it is, is understandable as a 15ml pot is £90! The two full size products are okay though. The Cargo Eye pencil is okay but I don't really use blue eye pencils so I will just sell this at a boot sale. It is a nice pencil though, It has loads of bits of glitter in it and would probably look really nice on someone with Blue eyes. The nail polish? Meh... I think the reason I'm not too fussed about this is because of the colour I was sent. Its a horrible metal colour. Actually, it looks like the same colour as Steel and After putting it on one nail I thought it looked cheap and tacky. The only good thing about this polish is it's very pigmented and shimmery which I love. They put a colour chart in the box and I think if I was given a different colour from the A/W collection I'd feel differently about it.

I can't hide the fact I'm really disappointed with this box. Well very disappointed with this box. Like the Glossybox they put in a card with info on the products. The only difference is Boudoir Prive display full size products on the card so I got really excited thinking I might have some full size products of the Body Polish or Macadamia Oil. When I opened this it was a stab to the heart. I like the fact they have pictures of the products but I think they need to show the actual sizes they put in instead of shop sizes.

I can definitely report this box is more, how shall we say this.. posh  luxurious. You can tell the products come from higher end stores and cost a fortune. This is why I think the samples are so small and to be honest? I'm not really prepared to pay £10 a month to receive pots this small. The point of these boxes is to allow people to try them out at a more affordable price and then repurchase them, but with samples this small you could only use them once or twice max and how would you know if its any good?

Put it this way.. Boudoir Prive is more "Made in Chelsea" and the Glossybox is "The Only Way Is Essex"

Me personally? I prefer "The Only Way Is Essex" because at least if I love a product, I can actually afford to repurchase it and Glossybox offer better size products that are more suited to me.

I can also report as of 11:00am this morning I cancelled my subscription to Boudoir prive.

What do you guys think of it?

GlossyBox - September 2011 ♥

Hey Dolls,

Another Month, another Glossybox and this one was a cracker. The theme this month was 5 Future Classics.

This is what I got in Septembers box....

From left to right
♥  L'Oreal Professional Mythic Oil - Full size
♥ StriVectin SD Eye Concentrate - 7ml (2 week trail size)
♥ HD Brows Eye & Eyebrow Palette - Full size
♥ Plum by Mary Greenwell perfume - Sample bottle
♥ Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil - 10ml sample bottle

This is by far the best box I've received and I adore all of the products. Unfortunately I won't be using the StriVectin SD Eye Concentrate as it's a little too mature for my skin but my mum happily accepted this. Matter of fact she snatched it out my hand quicker than I could blink. My favourite product has to be the Eye & Eyebrow palette from HD Brows.

I love a good eyebrow kit so will be testing this out thoroughly. I also love it as it has the thin slanted brush included and this type of brush is perfect for getting a good neat eyebrow shape. I've sort of lost my Benefit Eye kit (here) so this came at a brilliant time!

I love my Glossybox this month and am already looking forward to my next one! :D

What did you guys get in yours? What are you thoughts on it?

Glossybox - August 2011 ♥

Hey Dolls,

Yesterday I received my 2nd Glossybox :) The excitement has been driving me mad, but I can breathe a sigh of relief as it's now safe in my hands.
Here's what we was sent this month:

From Left to Right:
Rebel Nails Nail Wraps - Mine are blue with a mermaid scale design
Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara - Any excuse to own a new mascara is a good one - Full size
KMS heat protection and shine cream - I have some KMS products already and I really like this brand so I am really excited to try this product out. You can use it on towel dried hair before drying or dry hair for extra shine and colour protection. - Full size.
Ahava Mineral Body Lotion - This apparently is part of the brands new 'My Skin Reborn' range and it does smell really good. Had a cheeky use on my hands yesterday and they did stay really soft for the whole day - 40ml
Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser - I've seen this brand mentioned in celeb interviews and 'Things I Love' columns so I was really excited when I first saw it. The only issue I have is A: I don't have acne, and B: its anti - ageing. I'm 23 so not really looking to use Anti- ageing products just yet. Maybe I can give it away :) - 30ml

Overall, I don't think the box was as good as Julys (here) but for £10 I got at least £30 worth of new products. I don't think I will use the nail wraps but that's only because I don't like the pattern or colour. They sent out different colours and patterns so some subscribers got Pink and different designs. Also, I doubt I will use the Murad cleanser as I don't have the right skin to get much out of it. Apart from those two products I'm chuffed with the KMS hair cream and I love the mascara (Very handy considering mine has is nearly been used up) also I love body creams so have no problem with receiving this.

Did anyone else get the same? What do you think about this months?

GlossyBox- July

Hey dolls,

I have been such a rubbish blogger recently so sorry about that! I went on holiday for 10 days then went back to work and god I've been sooooo busy. Anyway, i'm BACK and back with a bang.

Yesterday, I received my long awaited Glossybox! For those of you that don't know about this beauty, I have added the links at the end of the post and I will explain all!
Its basically a monthly subscription and costs £10 per month (from Sept they will adding a delivery charge) Each month a box is delivered to the address of your choice and inside holds a number of beauty products. The contents are kept a secret until they've all been delivered but I have not been disappointed with the past products. Glossybox started this May so its fairly new but its already kicked up a storm on the blogging scene. In Mays box the receivers were treated to a full size Nars facial illuminator as well as a full size lipstick and other goodies. Junes box included an Opi nail polish and a tester of Bio effect facial serum and this months box I think its the Best!
You can cancel at anytime so if you only want one box, one box is all you will receive although I doubt you will want to cancel.

Anyway, shall we take a peek into July's box? Okay... here goes :D..

The Packaging

The Products

The list

Products in detail
Left to Right
♥  Weleda Pomegranate Regenerating Body oil, 100ml.
♥ Ciante nail polish in Skinny Jeans, Full size
♥ Orla Kiely perfume, trial size
♥ Ultra Sun factor 30 face cream, trial size
♥ Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether, Full size

I was extremely excited to receive a full size Illamasqua product. I currently don't own anything from this brand but I see several bloggers raving about them. This product is a multi purpose radiance highlighter, Its very fine powder that can be applied to your cheekbones, used as a metallic eyeshadow, applied to your body for a sheen or just anywhere you feel you need a bit of radiance. I used this yesterday for a big night out by mixing a few pinchfuls to my foundation and the results were amazing. Everyone was commenting on how much my skin glowed :D It's extremely glittery looking but I can assure you it doesn't come out like that. This product retails at £15.75 so for only £10 for 5 products it's amaze!

My next favourite product is the Weleda Pomegranite body oil. Its all organic and smells of citrus, which is weird as its meant to be pomegramite. ha-ha. My skins been a bit dry after 10 days baking in the sun then the cold wet British weather, so after the bath I slathered this on, and i am now so soft I could be made of silk! Again, this is a full size product and retails at £19.95.

The rest is just added extras.

I only paid £10 however 2 products alone cost just over £35!

My excuse? I work really hard and I deserve a treat every month. I cannot wait for August's box now.

If you like this idea and want to have a go then please see http://www.glossybox.co.uk/
